Kindra Predmore-Thompson describes herself as "tenacious, detail-oriented, driven, and focused". A thriving production designer, prop and wardrobe stylist - these qualities are truly visible in her work.
Kindra listens closely to her clients. She studies their message, their audience, their culture - and then she draws upon her extensive fashion background, tremendous energy and deep resources to make their layouts come alive. She may be working with the black and white sketches for a specific advertisement or the perfect garment fit on a model for a catalogue photo shoot. Regardless of form, Kindra focuses on the details that precisely capture her client's message.
A labor of love, her craft frequently entails:
- Working from dawn to dusk
- Contacting all her resources to gather the perfect props
- Flying to Miami one week and Los Angeles the next
- But the final product is worth such dedicated effort for Kindra, who describes her career as "amazing".
Her venture into television has already awarded Kindra several high profile awards and recognition:
- 2009 Emmy Nominations for Production Designer/Art Direction on "Amazing Sports Stories" series on FSN and "The Secret Game" on ESPN CLASSIC
- 2008 Emmy Nomination for Art Director/Production Designer for "Amazing Sports Stories" on Fox Sport Networks
- 2007 Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Production Designer/Art Director for "Twice a Hero"
- 2005 Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Achievement in Production Design/Art Direction for "Cinderella Man: The James Braddock Story"
Kindra had a vision for her career as early as high school, when she organized fashion shows. She earned a Bachelor of Professional Study Degree in fashion from Marist College in Poughkeepsie NY, where she benefitted from the frequent critique of fashion designers Isaac Mizrahi and Bob Mackie.
Of her three college scholarships, the Washington Post Design Scholarship afforded the most far-reaching opportunities - an internship and eventual employment with fashion designer Carolyn Roehm at her design house in New York City. During her employment, Kindra designed for Roehm's haute-couture line of clothing and catalogue. This critical experience was the springboard for her career as a freelance fashion stylist. She has excelled in this competitive field for more than 15 years and has metamorphosed into a props and production designer.
